Biography

Cherryl S. Espinoza (IATSE 111) is an award-winning producer, line producer, spatial computing strategist, educator and emerging director. Her body of work over 20 years encompasses independent films, immersive media, music videos, commercials, television and PSAs.

She has been the line producer and/or production manager of three features, nine commercials and more than 20 music videos, working alongside legendary music video director Hype Williams and renowned director Spike Lee. As COO of her company MakingXR (2019-2023), she produced or led production services on 43 virtual reality training experiences for Fortune 100 companies.

Espinoza’s work has aired on HBO and Showtime and has garnered more than 25 national and international awards, with screenings at the Cannes Film Festival’s American Pavilion, the Panafrican Film and Television Festival of Ouagadougou, and in the Venice Immersive section of the Venice International Film Festival.

Her recent projects include budgeting services for HBO’s Telemarketers, and line producing/production managing Anslem Richardson’s short Fractal, which was supported by Warner Bros. Discovery. She recently wrapped production as a producer/line producer on the upcoming Real, True 100 Percent Love, filmed in Bucharest and New York City.

Espinoza was in the inaugural cohort of Meta's VR Bootcamp, participated in their Horizon Start program, and has taught VR production for Meta at the NIFFTY Film Festival.

At Dodge, she leads the undergraduate course Introduction to Production and Set Management and the graduate course Pre-Production Planning.

She received her MFA in producing from the American Film Institute.
