Biography
Arleen Bejerano (Ph.D., University of Nebraska—Lincoln) is an Instructional Associate
Professor in the School of Communication at Chapman University. She serves as the
Director for Communication Studies and Co-Director for the Global Communication and
World Languages undergraduate program, functions as a faculty program advisor for
undergraduate students in the School of Communication, and works on university committees
addressing issues of belonging and intercultural and intergroup differences.
Her teaching and research interests center upon Instructional Communication as well
as understanding the role of communication when it comes to issues of identity. Dr.
Bejerano focuses on helping academic institutions and business organizations become
more inclusive environments so that everyone in those organizations can thrive. Her
work has appeared in such journals as Communication Education, Communication Currents, Western
Journal of Communication, and the Journal of Women and Minorities in Science and Engineering.
