Biography
Addison Ector (California, USA) is a dynamic performer, educator, and choreographer
whose career spans the U.S. and Europe. He began his training at the Debbie Allen
Dance Academy in Los Angeles and was later awarded a scholarship to The Ailey School
in New York City, where he trained intensively for three years. In 2012, he furthered
his contemporary studies at Jacob’s Pillow. During his training, he performed works
by acclaimed choreographers including Debbie Allen, Judith Jamison, Ohad Naharin,
Thang Dao, Alvin Ailey, Jennifer Archibald, Ron K. Brown, and Matthew Rushing.
Immediately after his training, Mr. Ector joined Complexions Contemporary Ballet under
the direction of Dwight Rhoden and Desmond Richardson. He spent five seasons with
the company, touring internationally and performing a range of repertory by Rhoden,
Richardson, Ido Tadmor, Jae Man Joo, and Marcelo Gomes.
In 2018, he joined TanzCompany Innsbruck in Austria under the direction of Enrique
Gasa Valga. After recovering from an injury, he returned to the company for the 2020–2022
seasons, performing works by Jiří Kylián, Nacho Duato, Mauro Bigonzetti, Uwe Scholz,
and Gasa Valga. He continues his artistic collaboration in Innsbruck as a guest artist
with Limonada Dance Company, directed by Enrique Gasa Valga, where he premiered as
the lead dancer in its inaugural production, Lágrimas Negras in 2024.
Mr. Ector's versatility extends beyond the concert stage. He was featured in GAP's
Fall 2016 Fitness Campaign, music videos for Coreon Du and Jill Scott, and featured
in published books The Art of Movement (NYC Dance Project) and Dancers After Dark
(Jordan Matter). His work has been captured by top photographers including Rachel
Neville, Carlos Quezada, Günther Egger, and Vikki Sloviter.
As a guest artist, he has performed with Ballet Dallas, Germaul Barnes/Viewsic Expressions
Dance, Company XIV, and The Great Gatsby Ballet in Kyiv, Ukraine.
Currently based in Los Angeles, Mr. Ector is a Lecturer in Dance at Chapman University.
He also serves as an Artist in Residence with Complexions Contemporary Ballet and
as Assistant Choreographer to Jae Man Joo, with whom he has assisted on three productions
and performed in Seoul, South Korea. Most recently, he was the Associate Choreographer
for Mozart: Her Story in the West End, London.
