Biography

Randee (Randee) Kirkemo, Ed.D., is the coordinator of School Counseling program and an assistant professor of School Counseling in the Attallah College of Education Studies.

Dr. Kirkemo is a proud alumni of the Attallah College of Educational Studies' Master of Arts in Counseling program. She earned her doctorate in Educational Leadership and Psychology from the University of Southern California (Fight On!). Prior to returning home to Chapman and joining the Attallah College faculty, Dr. Kirkemo served as a school counselor in K-12 settings for 10 years.

As an ASCA trained school counselor, Dr. Kirkemo is well-versed in supporting student’s academic, social-emotional. and college and career development. As a former alternative high school counselor, she is passionate about creating healing-centered schools through restorative relationships. Her research focused on the educational journeys of students with a history of trauma, along with the role of school counselors in K-12 school settings.

Dr. Kirkemo currently serves as an instructor and mentor for both the school psychology and school counseling programs at Chapman. Courses taught include Career Counseling and Development, Multi-Tiered Systems of Support, Best Practices in School Counseling, and School Counseling Internship and Practicum Fieldwork courses. As the coordinator of the school counseling program, Dr. Kirkemo supports students beyond the classroom to ensure their time at Chapman is as wonderful as her experience.
