Admission Files Request

»Admission Files Request

Pursuant to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), students may request and a university must disclose educational records. This includes select admission materials. 

You can use this information on this page to understand the process to request materials.

Who can request admission files

To request your admission materials, you must:

  • Be 18 years or older.
  • Have matriculated to Chapman (i.e., become a Chapman student). 

We cannot release application materials to students who were not accepted or were accepted but did not end up attending Chapman.

What admission files are available to request

Due to the Office of Admissions data retention policy, admission materials are only retained for 5 years after graduation or date of last attendance. 

Therefore, requests for materials pre-dating 5 years will not be able to be fulfilled. 

The materials that are available for request are:

  • The Common Application.
  • Transcripts submitted by the applicant or on behalf of the applicant. 

Reviewer notes are not maintained as part of a students’ file.

Requesting admission files

To request your admission files, please fill out our Admission Files Request Form. In the request, please include:

  • Your name and Chapman student ID.
  • The term(s) you applied to and term you matriculated.
  • The list of any materials you would like to review.

In addition, please note:

  • To view your files, you will need to visit the Office of Admission on Chapman’s Orange Campus. We are not able to mail or email any materials. 
  • You will be able to review materials in the Admission office. You will not be able to copy or take photos of your materials. However, you may take notes.
  • Under federal law, a university has 45 days to comply with an information request. We will confirm when materials are ready to review.
