Instructions for joining live online events

Live online events are hosted using Microsoft Teams. Below, you will find directions for joining an event using a Mac, PC, or Mobile Devices.

Mac and PC Instructions

Instructions for joining (Mac or PC):

1. Open the event drop-down and and click the link to join the meeting.

2. Choose the “Watch on the web instead” button. Alternatively, you may download or open in Teams if you already have the application installed, or if you only have the Safari browser.

3. Click “Join anonymously”.

4. You may see “The live event hasn't’t started”. The event will automatically begin at the scheduled start time.

Mobile Device Instructions

Instructions for mobile devices (Apple, Android):

1. Open the event drop-down and and click the link to join the meeting.

2. If you do not have the Microsoft Teams application, click the Apple or Google store link on your device to download and install the application on your device.

3. Once installed, go back to the previous page, or click the event link below.

  1. Choose the Open it.

4. Click Join as a guest.

5. Enter your name and click Enter.

Basic Accessibility through Word

Making your Documents Better for EVERYONE!

Learn what ‘accessibility’ means in this hour long class and how it impacts the documents you create every day. We will use Word to learn best digital accessibility practices including the use of Headers, Lists, Alternative Text, proper formatting of Tables, how to make good hyperlinks, and how to use the Accessibility Checker. We will also briefly discuss Acrobat and how to create an accessible PDF from your document.

Advanced Accessibility through Acrobat

Making your Documents Better for EVERYONE!

After you have attended the Basic Accessibility Training (Word) workshop, come and learn how to make most PDF files accessible in this one hour class. We will discuss how prevalent the PDF format is and why, how to best create a PDF from your source document, how to use the Acrobat Accessibility Checker, how to OCR scanned files, add alternative text to images, editing the tags in a file, and then properly markup tables and lists.

Working Remotely – Securely!

Join us for a follow-up webinar on Security with our Vulnerability and Risk Analyst, Justin Kaneshiro and our Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), George Viegas. It is essential you are working securely when working remotely. We will cover basic security tips and how to remain secure while working remotely. Then transitioning to Zoom’s new security features which have been implemented within the last month. We will dive in best practices for pre-meeting, during-meeting, and post meetings in Zoom and concluding with general tips and comparisons between other online platform.
