A rewarding career...

... plays to your strengths. Identifying them is the first step towards success. At Chapman, we focus on developing what we call the Four Pillars: the intellectual, physical, social, and spiritual dimensions of life. Sometimes it is challenging to evaluate all four of your pillars and recognize your strengths by yourself. We can help you with that. Take the time to complete a self-assessment, and you will build a deeper understanding of your innate strengths, interests, and values that will help you succeed. The better you understand yourself, the easier it will be to make academic and career decisions that align with who you are, what you value, and what will most likely provide fulfillment in your life and career.

Self-Assessments

Complete a preliminary self-assessment independently and then follow-up by meeting with a career educator. We will help you digest your results and transform the information into long and short-term career goals with accompanying strategic plans.

O*NET Interest Profiler

This 60-question tool uses information from O*Net information (sponsored by the U.S. Department of Labor) to help determine your interests as they relate to work. It will ask you to rate how much you would enjoy performing particular work tasks like “building kitchen cabinets,” “laying brick,” and “buying and selling stocks and bonds."

16Personalities

This free personality test gives digestible, simplified results reflective of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI).

Certified Assessments and 1-1 Coaching

If you are interested in completing a formal career self-assessment, we ask that students and alumni first speak with a certified career educator. Your career educator will set up a profile for the appropriate assessment and an appointment to review your results. Together, we will review your results and transform the information into long and short-term career goals with accompanying strategic plans.

Cost

Although assessments traditionally have a charge associated with them, all Chapman University students and alumni may take these assessments free (with the guidance of one of Chapman's career educators).

Myers-Briggs

The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® (MBTI®) assesses your preferences for where you focus your attention and get energy (introversion or extroversion,) the way you take in information (sensing or intuition,) the way you make decisions (thinking or feeling) and how you orient yourself to the external world (judging or perceiving.) With this information, you can gain insight and clarity into yourself and your values, which is a great place to begin when planning your educational and career paths!

Strong Interest Inventory

The Strong Interest Inventory® helps you identify the themes that interest you the most (Realistic, Investigative, Artistic, Social, Enterprising, Conventional.) A career educator reviewing these results can help you determine options for how to combine your interests and maximize your sense of personal fulfillment in your professional endeavors.

CliftonStrengths

Discover the best way to communicate your strengths to potential employers. This assessment focuses on improving your understanding of your innate talent and helps you use them to better navigate your professional journey.
