Entering the Art World

Mentorships
Students independently organize and produce work and participate in a group preparing for exhibitions in the spring of their junior year. In the fall of their senior year, students prepare for a Senior Exhibition with a committee preparing them to produce and exhibit their capstone work in the spring. This path gives students an opportunity to develop an independent voice while receiving creative and academic guidance from professional, practicing artists.

Internships
As a Studio Art major or minor, you will be encouraged to complete at least one internship after your first year at Chapman. During your internship, you’ll be paired with an Art Department faculty mentor who will guide and support your work. Our students gain real-world experience in art galleries, artist studios, photography studios, museums, and other creative industries that support the arts. Thanks to the department’s strong connections with leading galleries in Los Angeles, these competitive internships give you hands-on experience and an insider’s perspective on the contemporary art world.
