Brenda is a senior-level professional with more than 35 years of progressive experience in corporate and non-profit human resources and operations administration. Beginning in 2007, Brenda served as Chief Human Resources Officer at Pomona College in Claremont, California, widely regarded as a premier liberal arts college and the founding institution of The Claremont Colleges. She was responsible for the development, direction and management of the College’s Human Resources Office, serving approximately 2,200 employees, including 1,200 student employees. Prior to her role at Pomona College, Brenda served in senior HR leadership positions at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County and the Los Angeles County Medical Assn.
Brenda earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Administrative Management from Brigham Young University. She has a Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) designation through the Society for Human Resources Management and a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) designation through the Human Resources Certification Institute (HRCI), as well as the California designation (PHRca).
Brenda is also an active member of the College and University Professional Assn. for Human Resources (CUPA-HR) and is a former board member of the Professionals in Human Resources Assn. (PIHRA). She has also advocated for the HR profession alongside the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM) and has lobbied on Capitol Hill for employees' rights, benefits and overtime laws.
