»CETL Faculty Fellows and Associates

The Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL) is recognized as a hub for critical reflection, meaningful dialog, and pedagogical resources to support faculty development, as well as a leader in the advancement of academic excellence and student success on campus.

As you weigh options for professional leadership and/or service to the university, we hope you will consider becoming part of the CETL team as either a Faculty Fellow or a Faculty Associate.

Fellows and Associates will support CETL services and projects in one or more of the following ways:

  • Participate in and/or develop high-quality programs for faculty (e.g., workshops, symposiums, professional learning communities, etc.)
  • Curate resources and materials for CETL’s faculty-facing website, in print or digital formats (e.g., a 1- to 2-minute video clip of faculty testimonials; just-in-time teaching tips; etc.).
  • Provide insight into the pedagogical interests, needs, and perspectives of faculty.
  • Facilitate school/college-wide communication of upcoming CETL events.

Role Options

Faculty Fellow

Faculty Fellows are tenure-track (TT) or non-tenure-track (NTT) faculty members who 1) have a passion for teaching and learning, 2) possess pedagogical expertise and/or demonstrated excellence in teaching, and 3) have a desire to serve in an educational leadership role at Chapman University. Faculty Fellows receive a stipend ($75/hr.) to work with the Center. The commitment requires service of up to 3 hours per week (about 10-12 hours per month). Regular check-ins and participation in monthly CETL meetings will be required. Appointments are for one term (11-12 weeks), with the possibility of extending into a second term.

Faculty Associate

Faculty Associates are TT or NTT faculty members who have a desire to deepen their pedagogical expertise and support the development of other colleagues. Faculty Associates collaborate with CETL staff to develop and deliver just-in-time programs and services. In this service role, Associates will work approximately 4 hours per month. Participation in monthly CETL meetings and reporting on project progress will be required. Faculty Associates serve in this capacity for one term (11-12 weeks), with the possibility of extending to a second term. Upon completion of the contract, the CETL will provide the faculty associate with a letter acknowledging service to the university.

If you have any questions about these roles or about the application process, please reach out to us at CETL@chapman.edu.

Faculty Fellow (Fall 2024)
This experience has helped me to expand the vision of my role within the university community. Rather than only thinking about my teaching and my commitment to my Department, I have been able to consider my role within the campus-wide community.

I think this is a great professional development opportunity, and I am very glad I will be able to share the fruit of my work with other faculty. I hope to be able to continue working on interesting and inspiring topics and to be able to share ideas and projects with other faculty.
