What is Universal Design for Learning?

Universal Design for Learning (UDL) is a framework for teaching that guides educators in designing learning experience that accommodate the needs and abilities of all learners, and helps remove obstacles and barriers to learning. UDL provides guidelines for developing a more flexible learning environment that presents information and engages students in multiple ways. UDL also supports an inclusive learning environment as is provides students with multiple means of learning and engaging with the material.

Universal Design for Learning Guidelines

The Universal Design for Learning Guidelines are a tool to guide educators in the implementation of UDL in their course design. The guidelines demonstrate how to provide multiple means of engagement, representation, and action and expression in the classroom.
