»Data Science
As society's ability to collect and analyze data continues to grow, so does the need
for scientists who can analyze it—and at a scale never before thought possible.
The Data Science program at Chapman combines the strengths of the computational programs from the Fowler School of Engineering with curriculum from the Argyros School of Business and Economics.
Here you will join the world of cloud computing, databases, machine learning, artificial intelligence, business analytics and more. With these skills, you'll be prepared to lead teams and organizations by:
- Leveraging data at multiple scales to discover patterns.
- Visualizing trends.
- Explaining the seemingly unexplainable.

In this program, you will:
- Build a skill set focusing on both engineering and business administration.
- Learn how to analyze, interpret and leverage data to achieve business and marketing goals.
- Work with data models, AI tools and more.

By the time you graduate, you'll be prepared to:
- Leverage data to guide business decisions.
- Apply your data analysis skills to solve tech-industry problems.
- Work in industries including tech, education, government, healthcare, urban planning and more.
Data Science careers
Data Science graduates can go into roles like:
- Data scientist: Collect and analyze data to create accurate predictions and actionable insights using software tools and your programming and data visualization skills.
- Systems analyst: Analyze science, engineering, business and other data processing problems to implement and improve computer systems.
- Data engineer: Plan, direct or focus on larger datasets and optimize the infrastructure surrounding different data analytics processes.
Or you can go on to one of Chapman's integrated bachelor's + master's programs. These programs let you earn a master's degree with just one year of additional coursework on top of your bachelor's. Good options for Data Science students include:
