At Chapman’s Attallah College of Educational Studies, we offer teaching programs that
integrate academic coursework and hands-on training. Upon graduation, you will be
well prepared to put your skills into practice and find employment as an educator.
Liberal Studies Major
For future elementary or special education teachers
The Liberal Studies major is designed for students who plan to teach at the elementary level or in special education settings. This program offers a broad foundation in core subject areas and prepares students for credentialing without the need to take the CBEST or CSET.
Students in this program will:

Learn how to teach multiple subjects, including reading, mathematics, and science

Earn a bachelor's degree in Liberal Studies
-
Become fully authorized to teach after completing a credential program, without CBEST or CSET requirements
Community Educational Studies Major
For careers in education beyond the classroom
The Community Educational Studies (CES) major is ideal for students interested in educational roles outside traditional K–12 classrooms. This interdisciplinary degree supports careers in community-based education, policy, and related service fields.

Preparing to Teach Middle or High School
Pathways for future secondary educators
Students who wish to teach middle or high school are encouraged to pursue one of the following routes:

Major in your subject area (such as English, mathematics, or chemistry) and minor in Secondary Education

Apply to an integrated master’s degree program that combines a bachelor’s and master’s degree while preparing you for a teaching credential
Integrated Pathways
Earn a Bachelor's Degree + Master's Degree in five years
Attallah College offers integrated programs that allow students to complete both a bachelor's and master’s degree on an accelerated timeline, along with preparation for a California teaching credential.
