Mentor Selection

Prior to submitting an application, you need to identify up to two possible faculty mentors from the approved list with whom you would like to conduct research. After submitting the application and if notified to move forward with submitting a research proposal, you will be encouraged to meet with the potential Faculty Mentors you selected to further gauge compatible research interests. You will then select a Faculty Mentor and develop your research proposal together. If selected as a Beckman Scholar, you and your mentor will expand your research plan to include specific objectives and a proposed timeline.

Application Timeline

  • The application deadline is Friday, December 6, 2024.
  • After you submit your application, you will be notified to move forward with submitting your research proposal. Proposal submissions are due Friday, February 7, 2025.
  • Proposals will then be reviewed and students moving forward will be invited to interview. Interviews will take place March 11-14, 2025.
  • Scholar selection will conclude by April 4, 2025.
