RESEARCH/TEACHING INTERESTS

Dr. Linstead is the principal investigator of the Machine Learning and Assistive Technology (MLAT) Lab at Chapman University. His research interests span all areas of artificial intelligence and machine learning, with applications to software engineering, remote sensing and developmental disorders. Most recently his work has focused on autism spectrum disorder and deep learning. He currently holds the Experian Assistant Professorship in Machine Learning. Erik joined Chapman in 2003 as a part-time lecturer and held several types of faculty appointments before transitioning to his current role. He is proud of the over 75 course sections he has taught in that time, which include algorithm analysis, artificial intelligence, data structures, machine learning and many more. He’s even more proud of his students, who have gone on to do a variety of great things in both industry and academia.
