Dr. Nicholas leads the Chapman University Wind Symphony in the Musco Center for the ArtsThe Chapman Conservatory woodwind, brass, and percussion faculty are delighted to invite your students to apply for participation in this rewarding and intensive day of music-making. We look forward to welcoming you and your outstanding students!

Chapman University's Honor Band Festival will be held on Saturday, February 29, 2020 in the Musco Center for the Arts. Students selected for the Honor Band Festival will participate in a day-long event, which will offer pre-professional training led by Southern California’s preeminent wind and brass faculty.

+ - Nomination Information

Participants will be selected based on their musical accomplishments, contribution to their respective programs, and their director’s recommendation.  Directors should email the completed application form to honorband@chapman.edu (one form per student).

To be considered, nominations must be received by Friday, December 13, 2019.  Accepted students and their directors will be notified via email.

Due to the overwhelming response to last year’s event we will be limiting participation.  The earliest applications will be considered first.

This year’s event will feature:

  • Chapman Conservatory Honor Band
  • Master Classes with Chapman Conservatory of Music faculty including members of the Pacific Symphony, Los Angeles Opera, Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra and A-list Hollywood Studio Players
  • Chamber music concert performed by Chapman Conservatory faculty
  • Q&A with Chapman students
  • Student capstone concert in the Musco Center for the Arts

Event Location
This year's Honor Band Festival will start in Oliphant Hall (OH for short), and later move to the Musco Center for the Arts. All events are private except for the 6:30 p.m. public performance in the Musco Center for the Arts. Chapman’s Hall-Musco Conservatory of Music is located at the corner of Grand and Palm Avenues.
