Chapman University is pleased to announce the Hall-Musco Conservatory of Music's 2018 Honor Band Festival to be held on Saturday, February 23 in the Musco Center for the Arts. Students selected for the Honor Band Festival will participate in a day-long event, which will offer pre-professional training led by Southern California’s preeminent wind and brass faculty. Chapman University is delighted to offer a full scholarship to this event to accepted students.

This year’s event will feature:

  • Chapman Conservatory Honor Band
  • Master Classes with Chapman Conservatory of Music faculty including members of the Pacific Symphony, Los Angeles Opera, Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra and A-list Hollywood Studio Players
  • Chamber music concert performed by Chapman Conservatory students
  • Q&A with Chapman Students
  • Student capstone concert in Chapman’s Musco Center for the Arts

Out-of-area students must be dropped off by their director or an adult chaperone and are requested to make their own housing arrangements.

+ - Nomination Information

Participants will be selected based on their musical accomplishments, contribution to their respective programs, and their director’s recommendation.

Please email the completed application form to the email address provided on the application form. Online nominations will also be acceptedTo be considered, nominations must be received by Friday, December 14, 2018.

Accepted students and their directors will be notified via email. Please be aware that due to the overwhelming response to last year’s event we will be limiting participation, allowing each school to nominate 15 students. A total of 110 students will be accepted - the earliest applications received will be considered first.

Event Location
This year's Honor Band Festival will start in Oliphant Hall (OH for short), and later move to the Musco Center for the Arts. All events are private except for the 6:30 p.m. public performance in the Musco Center for the Arts. Chapman’s Hall-Musco Conservatory of Music is located at the corner of Grand and Palm Avenues.
