Pre-screen Audition Video

The standard pre-screen video MAY take the place of an in-person audition. You will be prompted to upload the video on your Application Status page after completing the Creative Supplement.

All applicants must audition on their primary instrument (guitar, percussion, piano, strings, vocal, or woodwinds & brass). Applicants to the BA in Music, BM in Composition and BM (Pre-Music Education Certification) must submit additional materials. Visit the Audition Process webpage for detailed information.

All videos should include the following points:

  • Introduce yourself and briefly describe your performing experience.
  • Briefly state why you want to attend Chapman University.
  • Prepare your video to meet the specific audition repertoire requirements for your instrument or voice (see Audition Process).
  • Announce the title of your piece and the name of the composer before you begin your performance.
  • Do not edit your video. EACH PIECE MUST BE CONTINUOUS AND UNEDITED.
  • Check your recording before uploading to make sure both audio and video are present.
  • Instrumental audition video length is determined by the content requirements.
  • Vocal audition video length should be no more than five to six minutes.

Please visit the Audition Process webpage for additional program-specific video requirements.

Callback Sessions

Select applicants will be invited to a callback session on their primary instrument, meet program directors and answer additional questions. Callbacks may be in-person or virtual.

Visit our Audition Process webpage for more information.
