Chapman University established Advanced Physics Laboratory in 2008, with support funding from the Office of Naval Research.
In 2012, APL officially became a satellite of the Institute for Quantum Studies at Chapman University. The partnership of APL with the IQS serves greater, global scientific purpose through collaboration on experimental and theoretical physics. The scholastic success of the university, combined with revolutionary advancements from the research lab, position both among peers at the forefront of academic and scientific communities.
APL is presently located in the Washington DC – Baltimore area, where our Nation's capital meets a thriving community of intellectual potential. Our neighbors include such institutions as Georgetown University, UM Baltimore County, UM College Park, Johns Hopkins University, US Naval Research Laboratory, National Institutes of Health, and NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center.
