As a student enrolled in the course, CPSC 357 - iOS Application Development, Chapman University will be providing you a MacBook Pro, hereinafter referred to as the “equipment,” for the purpose of participation and as needed to complete assignments in the course. The equipment will be loaned to you as long as you remain enrolled in CPSC 357. Once the equipment has been distributed, you will be responsible for its condition while in your possession. It is expected you will use this equipment to perform coursework as needed and as directed by the instructor. This equipment is an essential tool for your education while enrolled in the CPSC 357 course.
While in possession of the equipment, the University will maintain administrator rights in order to manage institutionally licensed software. If you leave, withdraw or drop from the course, regardless of reason, the equipment will need to be returned in working order as originally issued.
The equipment will be covered by AppleCare™. Certain damage repairs and technical assistance from Apple may be obtained directly from Apple as a result of that coverage. The approximate value of the MacBook Pro with associated AppleCare™ coverage totals $2,400.
In order to receive this equipment you must agree to the following terms and conditions:
- I agree to accept as a loan a 13 Inch display MacBook Pro configured as follows:
1.4GHz Intel Quad-Core Core i5, Turbo Boost up to 3.9GHz, Intel Iris Plus Graphics 645, 8GB 2133MHz LPDDR3 SDRAM, 128GB PCIe-based SSD with Backlit Keyboard, as of the issuance date below along with a power adapter and pre-loaded software that is owned and licensed to the University.
- I may use this equipment for purposes of my CPSC 357 – IOS Application Development course and other Chapman University coursework only; I may not use the equipment for my personal use.
- I agree to return the original equipment supplied as described above within the final week of the Fall 2020 semester and no later than December 21, 2020 in the same condition it was loaned to me, accounting for any ordinary wear and tear.
- If I am unable to return the equipment in person, I will notify the Fowler School of Engineering Office of the Dean at engineering@chapman.edu to obtain appropriate equipment return procedures including shipping instructions to mail the equipment to campus.
- If this equipment is damaged, lost, or stolen the student must report this to the Fowler School of Engineering Office of the Dean in order to continue in the CPSC 357 course.
- I understand that this equipment will be necessary to participate in the CPSC 357 course requirements and without it I cannot participate fully as required. Hence if lost, damaged or stolen and not covered by AppleCare™ or personally supplied insurance, I will need to replace the unit and pay for the value of the equipment as an expense billed to my student account, unless I arrange another payment method that is acceptable to the Fowler School of Engineering.
- I understand that this equipment is covered by terms and conditions of AppleCare™ but is otherwise not insured by the University. I understand that it is my responsibility to purchase or otherwise secure any insurance that I believe to be necessary to cover any loss or damage not covered by AppleCare.
- I understand that the University is not responsible for any content on this equipment or its associated iCloud service other than the University’s licensed software.
- I understand that the University is not responsible for the unavailability, loss, nor inadvertent modification or exposure of data on this equipment and its associated iCloud services.
- I agree that I will not remove, alter or copy any university licensed software loaded on this equipment.
- I agree that I will be required to comply with the University’s Network and Acceptable Use policy available at /campus-services/information-systems/security/acceptable-use-policy.asp.
- I may access AppleCare™ by contacting servicedesk@chapman.edu or 714-997-6600 or contacting Apple directly at any apple store or online.
- I understand that I am required to meet with the Chapman University IS&T department at the end of the loan period to participate in a check-out procedure whereby the University licensed software may be removed and I consent to its removal.
- A true and correct copy of the Agreement, as executed by the Parties, may be used in lieu of an original for all purposes permitted by law. This Agreementmay be executed in separate counterparts, each of which when so executed and delivered shall be an original but such counterparts together shall constitute one and the same instrument.
