Chapman University I Attallah College of Educational Studies

Qualified students enrolled in Attallah College’s Education Specialist or Single Subject teaching credential programs are eligible to complete their student teaching requirement under a paid University Intern Credential. University Intern Credentials allow teacher candidates to work as a full-time teacher of record while completing their credential program.

Through partnerships with local school districts/employers, Chapman University’s CTC-approved teacher preparation program enables interns to earn their teaching credential while maintaining employment as a beginning teacher.

Program Eligibility

Once teacher candidates complete the prerequisite courses, they may secure an intern position in a public school district or school site in which Chapman has an approved Internship Agreement on file. Note Chapman does not secure intern positions/employment on the candidate's behalf. It is the teacher candidate's responsibility to apply for and receive an offer from a public school district or school site in which Chapman has an approved Internship Agreement on file.

Chapman teacher candidates with an approved University Intern Credential receive support from Chapman University Supervisors as well as a District Support Provider, who is designated by their district or school site. As a University Intern, teacher candidates must maintain district/site employment, maintain continuous enrollment in required credential coursework for the duration of the internship, and maintain good standing in the credential program and university.
