Where is Chapman University located?
Chapman University is located in the City of Orange, California, near historic Old Towne Orange. Our beautiful campus is centrally located in Orange County, a short distance from the 5, 55, 22, and 91 freeways.
When are Ph.D. classes held?
Classes are held in the late afternoon and evenings, Monday through Thursday. The
schedules are as follows:
- 4:00 p.m. to 6:50 p.m.
- 7:00 p.m. to 9:50 p.m.
Is there financial support available?
As you consider our Ph.D. in Education, we want you to know of several resources to help fund your education at Chapman University.
All priority deadline Ph.D. applicants will be considered for multiyear (renewable) tuition fellowships and graduate assistantships.
These options include:
- Graduate Student Instructor (GSI): GSIs primarily teach undergraduate courses in a classroom setting.
- Graduate Research Assistantships (GRA): GRAs are selected based on merit, relevant experience and skills, and compatibility with a project’s research goals.
- Graduate Teaching Assistantships (GTA): GTAs shadow a faculty member, support in grading papers, and earn qualifications to teach the course.
- Chapman Equity Scholars Fellowship: Fully funded support opportunity to cultivate knowledge, theories, and practices to address inequities where they exist in K-12 and higher education settings, and to influence and inform educational policies around equitable access to learning.

How long does the program take to complete?
Program course completion takes 3.5 - 4 years if enrolled full-time or 4.5 - 5 years
if enrolled part-time.

How do I submit my letters of recommendation?
Letters of recommendation must be submitted electronically through the online application. You will be prompted to enter your recommenders’ names and email addresses, and they will receive instructions via email. Please note that letters submitted directly by applicants will not be accepted.
