Select applicants to BFA in Screen Acting and BFA in Theatre Performance will be invited
to a live audition as part of the admission process. For those selected:
- You will receive an email invitation from the program. The invitation will include
audition dates and links to register.
- You should prepare to perform the two monologues used in your pre-screen audition.
- Please wear clothing that allows you to move comfortably in your audition. No costumes, stage makeup or extraneous sound effects.
- If you cannot attend a live audition, your pre-screen audition will serve as your final audition.
During your visit, if you or your family may have downtime. You can:
- Explore campus using the self-guided tour app you can download on your phone (our facilities tour covers other areas of campus than those in the app).
- Go to Old Towne Orange (2 blocks from campus) for coffee, a meal or shopping.
Regional (In-person) Live Auditions
Regional auditions will take place in select cities on around the country. These auditions will be much briefer than in-person, on-campus auditions but will offer a one-on-one opportunity to connect with a faculty member.
- Please plan to arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your scheduled audition to allow for parking and arrival. If we're unable to host your audition during your scheduled time, we might not be able to meet with you.
- A few days prior to your live audition we will email you more detailed instructions on where to go once you arrive and who you'll be meeting with.
Virtual Live Auditions
The virtual live auditions will take place via Zoom. Please be available for the full session.
The session will begin with a 30-minute information session with the department chair. Parents are welcome to join for this portion. You will then join a faculty member in a Zoom breakout room where you will share your monologues. This will be approximately 10 minutes.
Some guidelines for framing during your Zoom call:
- Set up your camera to allow for a 3/4 body shot.
- Use a distraction-free background with adequate lighting and audio. We need to see and hear you clearly.
