Vaccine Requirement

Starting November 8, 2021, all "noncitizens who are nonimmigrants" (such as international students who are not US citizens) will be required to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination when travelling into the United States by air.

As you prepare for your transition to Chapman University, here are a few tips to help you get ready to arrive in the United States.

Have your immigration documents on hand at the airport.

You will need the following documents to get through immigration and enter the United States:

  • Passport
  • Visa
  • I-20 Form
  • SEVIS I-901 fee payment
  • Receipt

If you have all these documents, you will be given a stamp in your passport noting the date and location of your arrival and your Duration of Status. Additionally, you will be assigned an I-94 number, which you can use to apply for a driver’s license, social security number and more. Learn more on the U.S. Customs and Border Protection website.

Be prepared to answer questions at the airport.

As you go through immigration at the airport, you may be asked some general questions about what you will be doing in the U.S. This is normal, and there is no need to be nervous. Answer the questions clearly and honestly. If there is a problem, you can contact the Office of Admission at +1 (657) 304-3126.

Plan your transportation ahead of time.

We recommend that you plan your transportation from the airport prior to your arrival in the U.S. Below are some general pointers; you can find detailed information on our Airport Transportation page.

  • Know which airport you will be using before you plan your transportation. There are many airports within driving distance of Chapman:
    • Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) is about an hour’s drive from campus and has the most international flight options.
    • John Wayne/Orange CountyAirport (SNA) is only 20 minutes from campus but has limited international flight options.
  • Arrange for transportation using one of these methods:
    • Rideshare (Uber or Lyft).
    • Shuttles (Prime TimeShuttle, SuperShuttle or Shuttle 2 LAX).
    • Taxi.
    • Have friends or family pick you up.

  • If you will be arriving at Chapman housing, you can use one of the following addresses:
    • Residence Halls: 625 N. Grand St., Orange, CA
    • Panther Village: 3101 W. Chapman Ave., Orange, CA
    • Chapman Grand Apartments: 915 E. Katella Ave., Anaheim, CA
