Different Advisors: What each area covers and who you should contact for what
Peer Advising
CCI Majors and Minors have a peer advisor available to them. This student position
was established to help students select classes that meet their interests and program
requirements; provide information on academic programs, policies and procedures; and
make appropriate referrals to campus resources. They also provide advice based on
their experiences as students at CU. For information on our peer advisor, and how
to contact them/book appointments students can go to the Wilkinson Peer Advisor page.
Unit Advising/Program Advising
For more specific advising on CCI curriculum requirements CCI Majors can contact CCI
Department Chair, Dr. Kelli Fuery. CCI Minors can contact CCI Director, Dr. Patrick
Fuery or Program Manager Shannon Halverson. This includes, but is not limited to,
questions about the CCI program structure according to your catalogue year; questions
regarding substitutions within the curriculum; and/or Study Abroad questions. Please
be aware though we can advise you on matters of CCI, but you will always want to double
check your program evaluation with the Academic Advising Center to make sure that
ALL of your credits for both your major(s) and your minor(s) are as you expect them
to be.
Academic Advising
The Academic Advising Center Advisors are trained to look over your program evaluation and make sure you are meeting all
your credential requirements, and to spot any problems. They, however, will not always
know the nuances of every program, and so some dialogue will need to be opened between
them and the unit if a question arises. As CCI student, you are part of Wilkinson
College, and therefore can always reach out to the Wilkinson College Academic Advisors for assistance.

Q: I am a CCI minor, but I can’t get into all the CCI courses I need, what can I do?
A: Always make sure that you are on the waitlists for the courses you want. It might seem like a long shot, however during the first two weeks of the semester there is always a lot of movement with students dropping and switching courses. You can also write to the professor of the course to see if they have any spare seats available. If they are able, they may ask you to fill out the online permission number request form to add the course, however this is at the discretion of the professor, and please note they may not have any spare seats. If you are a CCI minor that for certain reasons or circumstances absolutely needs that course that semester, you can talk to CCI Center Director, Dr. Patrick Fuery about possible substitutions or alternatives. CCI Majors should contact Department Chair, Dr. Kelli Fuery.
Q: I see that a course has seats reserved for CCI students, I’m a minor and it still won’t let me register?
A: If you are a CCI student and CCI spots are still available, but you are unable to add the course there may be other pre-requisites in place. Be sure to check, and if you seem to meet all the pre-requisites, but still cannot register, contact the Program Manager at shalvers@chapman.edu
Q: I have been issued a permission number to add a course, but it will not let me
use it, what should I do?
A: First remove yourself from the waitlist if you are currently on it for the class
you are trying to use the permission number for. Then try to use the permission number
again. If that does not work, and you have no holds on your account, contact the CCI
Program Manager at shalvers@chapman.edu. Please note, if you do have a hold on your account for any reason you will need
to resolve that with the Registrar before the permission number will work.
