»Aid for the Accelerated Pre-Pharmacy Experience Program (APEx)
Through the Pre-Pharmacy Experience (APEx) program, high school graduates can earn their Pharm D. in 5 years. Students spend 2 years on the Orange Campus as undergraduates, completing course pre-requisites for the School of Pharmacy, and then spend the remaining 3 years as graduate students, earning the Pharm.D. on the Rinker campus in Irvine.
Financial aid at the undergraduate and graduate levels are quite different, so it is important to understand how they differ and plan accordingly.

Undergraduate Aid
During the undergraduate portion of the integrated program, aid is handled by the Office of Undergraduate Financial Aid. Quesitons about eligibility should be directed to their office.
Students in the APEx program are considered undergraduates for the first 2 years of their program, and are considered graduate students for the 3rd/4th/5th years.
Once students have transitioned from undergraduate to graduate, they can no longer receive undergraduate aid, including institutional awards.

Graduate Aid
Once a student has transitioned to the graduate program, aid is handled by the Office of Graduate Financial Aid. Aid at the graduate level is quite different from what students may have received as undergraduates. Please note that the Pharm.D. program is on a year-round trimester schedule.
The School of Pharmacy offers conditional tuition scholarship for the Pharm.D. portion of the program. More information can be found on the APEx page.
Federal student aid is different at the graduate level. Graduate students are considered
"independent", and are no longer required to include parent data on the FAFSA. Federal
aid at the graduate level is typically only student loans, with annual maximums higher
than what is available at the undergraduate level.
