Incubator Programs
The Leatherby Center offers incubator programs to support student, staff, and alumni startups. We have partnered with Orange, California-based companies, 4th Sector Innovations and The WESEE Collective to help the next generation of talent develop their innovative ideas into viable ventures.
The Center will support startups of any type or industry. Yet, we have a special emphasis on scalable tech ventures that will transform the Future of Entertainment. As Chapman University has the #4 Film School in the U.S., Disney is our #2 employer of our graduates, and our curriculum in sports and entertainment being very popular, this focus leverages Chapman’s strengths. Chapman and the Leatherby Center and our community will shape the future of entertainment.
Deloitte research found that 40% of Gen Z students want to work with companies that are making an impact on the world’s most challenging problems. Because of this, our Incubator programs provide students with foundational systems and capabilities to drive Wellness, Education, Society, Ethics, and the Environment (WESEE) and innovation into the discrete pursuits and the broader fabric of their organizations.
InterPhase Incubator - Discover Your Value
The InterPhase Incubator program focuses on students with early-stage ideas and helps ignite these ideas into startups. This discovery driven program is all about finding out if “there is a ‘there’ there” so founders have the confidence to move forward faster, change direction, or move on to their next idea.
Rolling applications are accepted and cohorts run multiple times per year based on demand.

Instantaneous Accelerator – Grow Your Value
The Instantaneous Accelerator is a program for students whose ventures have demonstrated “economic oxygen.” It is a program for students who are ready to build a stronger foundation that can support the ultimate scale of their venture. The program is designed to be the final push towards validating the core components of the opportunity so founders can make the right choice for themselves on how to match their aspirations with the most appropriate pathways for growth.
