» Requesting Items: Leatherby Libraries and Interlibrary Loan

Rinker patrons that need items from the Leatherby Libraries collections can utilize the “Place a Hold” feature. Patrons can use this service to have items paged then routed and held for them at the Library Services Desk in the Health Sciences Study Commons.

To request an item from the Leatherby Libraries, complete the following two-step process to initiate a request:

Step 1: Locate items in the online library catalog and use the “Place a Hold” feature to request an item. Patrons will be prompted to enter their name, University ID number, and library PIN to authenticate and complete the request.

Step 2: Patrons will be prompted to select a “Pickup Location.” Choose the “Rinker Library Services Desk” to have the item held at the Rinker Campus. Patrons will also be asked to select a date to cancel the request if not filled by that date.

Circulation staff will pull the items from the library collection. Items will be packaged and shipped to the Health Sciences Study Commons at the Rinker Campus. An email will be sent to the patron to notify them when the item is ready to be picked up at the Library Services Desk in the Health Sciences Study Commons.

Items from the following collections are ineligible to be requested:

  • Course reserves
  • Journals
  • Reference
  • The Center for American War Letters Archives
  • The Huell Howser Archives
  • The Sala and Aron Samueli Holocaust Memorial Library
  • The Frank Mt. Pleasant Library of Special Collections and Archives

If you have any questions or need assistance requesting an item, please contact the Library Services Desk at rinkerlib@chapman.edu or call (714) 516-5040.

Renewals

Patrons can renew most items by accessing their library account online, utilizing the MyLibrary! application, or calling the Library Services Desk at (714) 516-5040. Items cannot be renewed if they have reached a maximum renewal limit or are requested by another patron.

Patrons are responsible for keeping track of all due dates when renewing online; only system posted due dates are valid.

Returning Materials

Patrons that are authorized to be on the Rinker Campus can return items in the 24-hour book drop located inside the Health Sciences Study Commons.

Patrons are responsible for returning borrowed items by the due date to the Leatherby Libraries or the Library Services Desk at the Health Sciences Study Commons.

Interlibrary Loan Service

The interlibrary loan service allows you to borrow books and journal articles that the Leatherby Libraries and Health Sciences Study Commons does not own.

For more information about request limits and fees, please see the Interlibrary Loan Policies and FAQ page.

Logon to Request an Interlibrary Loan

Please allow 2 weeks for the Interlibrary Loan Department to process and receive book requests. Once received, the item will be packaged and shipped to the Health Sciences Study Commons at the Rinker Campus. An email will be sent to the patron to notify them when the item is ready to be picked up at the Library Services Desk in the Health Sciences Study Commons.
