» Rinker Campus Policies and Procedures


  • The delivery of library materials is provided to Chapman University students, faculty, and staff located at the Rinker Campus.
  • Students must be currently registered to be eligible for Rinker Campus library services.
  • Faculty and Staff must be currently teaching and/or employed to be eligible for Rinker Campus library services.
  • Patrons located at the Rinker Campus can have library materials sent directly to the patron’s home address (students) or campus address (faculty and staff only).
  • Rinker Campus patrons are responsible for reporting changes of address, telephone number, and/or other information to ensure accuracy of the patron record.
  • All email correspondence and requests for library services and resources must use a Chapman University email address. Contact the Service Desk at (714) 997-6600 if you do not know your email address.

Borrowing Materials

Please read the Circulation Policies prior to requesting library materials. This page includes information about checkout limits, renewals, and fines. 

To request an article, book, or audio/visual item for checkout, login to your Interlibrary Loan (ILL) account. If you do not currently have an ILL account, you must create one. Please note that you must open a library account PRIOR to creating an ILL account. You can do so by visiting the Leatherby Libraries Circulation desk, or contacting them at (714) 532-7723. Once your account is created, you can log in and begin requesting materials. We will contact you via your University email address if we have any questions about your requests. Please contact us if your address has changed recently to avoid any delay in shipping materials to you.

Borrowing Leatherby Libraries Materials 

  • If you request an item that is owned by the Leatherby Libraries and it is available for checkout, we will ship it to you via UPS to your shipping address (we cannot ship to P.O. Boxes).
  • Items returned late are subject to overdue fees. You will be billed for items that are not returned to the library. All unresolved and/or unpaid charges will be referred to the University Business Office (including an additional referral fee).

Borrowing Materials through Interlibrary Loan

  • If you request an item that is not owned by the Leatherby Libraries, we can try to borrow it from another library for you – this is called Interlibrary Loan.

Returning Materials

  • All Rinker Campus patrons are responsible for returning library materials by the due date.
  • Materials are not considered returned until they are received at the Leatherby Libraries.
  • Materials can take up to a week in transit before they reach the Leatherby Libraries.
  • Shipping days are factored into the checkout time, and fines will not be waived for items received late due to a delay in shipping.
  • Patrons are provided a return envelope, along with an "Online E-Label Record" with their library materials. Patrons must return library items in the envelopes provided to the Post Office, and should hold onto the "Online E-Label Record" as a receipt in case items are lost in the mail.

Chapman University ID Card (Library Card)

  • A Chapman University ID card, which functions as your library card, is needed when patrons plan to visit the Leatherby Libraries in person.
  • You must obtain your Chapman University ID Card prior to visiting the Leatherby Libraries.
