»First-Year Student Housing Options
As a first-year student at Chapman, you are required to live on campus for your first three years unless you are living with your family within a 30-mile radius.
Who you'll live with
Here is some information about who you will room with as a first-year student at Chapman.
- You should expect to be housed in a triple-occupancy room.
- You will live with assigned roommates. In your first year at Chapman, we take care of room assignments. But don’t worry: when you apply for housing, you’ll fill out a quick questionnaire about your living habits and preferences. We’ll place you with someone who answered similarly to you.
- Your roommates and floormates will share your academic interests. All first-year students are placed in a Fenestra Living Learning Community. This means that you will live on the same floor as other students in your school/college. That way, you’ll definitely have things in common with them, including your interests and classes.

Meal Plans
Meal plans are mandatory for first-year students living in Chapman housing. With a meal plan, you’ll get a set amount of meals at the Randall Dining Commons, our on-campus dining hall, using your student ID card.
Check out our meal plan options for more details.
