»Healthcare AI Initiative
The Healthcare AI Initiative (HAI) at Chapman University highlights researchers leveraging artificial intelligence to address critical healthcare challenges in Orange County, including geriatrics, opioid misuse, physical therapy, and drug delivery.
HAI is committed to advancing equity in AI research and fostering interdisciplinary
innovation to enhance healthcare outcomes and patient safety. By facilitating collaboration
among AI researchers within and beyond healthcare systems, HAI aims to drive the future
of AI applications in medicine.
Central to HAI’s mission is the critical examination of ethical AI practices, particularly
in the context of Clinical Decision Support (CDS) systems. Emphasis is placed on mitigating
algorithmic biases, developing ethically grounded machine learning algorithms, and
facilitating privacy-preserving data exchange, thereby ensuring robust and responsible
AI integration in healthcare.
