Dr. Albert Vasquez serves as the Vice President of Enterprise Risk and Safety at Chapman University, where he leads six operational units: Public Safety, Fire and Life Safety, Emergency Management, Environmental Health and Safety, Risk Management, and Parking and Transportation.
With over 30 years of experience in public safety, higher education, and risk management, Dr. Vasquez brings seasoned leadership and a proactive, integrated approach to institutional safety and resilience. Prior to joining Chapman, Dr. Vasquez held several senior leadership positions in public higher education. These include Assistant Vice Chancellor and Chief of Police at UC Merced, Assistant Vice Chancellor for Enterprise Risk Management at UC Riverside, Associate Vice President for Strategic Enterprise Risk Management at Cal Poly Pomona, and Dean of Campus Security and Emergency Operations at Santa Monica College. His law enforcement career includes municipal policing as well as service with the United Nations International Police Task Force.
Dr. Vasquez holds an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from the University of Southern California. He has also taught subjects such as criminal justice, emergency management, and homeland security at various colleges and universities. His leadership integrates risk management, public safety, and emergency preparedness into a cohesive framework, ensuring that Chapman University remains secure, compliant, and prepared for evolving challenges.
