Dr. Giulio M. Ongaro is Dean of the College of Performing Arts at Chapman University. A native of Venice, Italy, Dr. Ongaro holds a Ph.D. in musicology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a dissertation on the singing chapel of St. Mark’s Basilica (Venice) in the sixteenth century. Dr. Ongaro is an active intellectual whose research is centered on questions of the mutual influence of society and the arts, the social and political context for the production and performance of music, the business of music, music printing, musical instruments in the sixteenth century, and the relationship of words and music. His research has been published in scholarly journals in the United States and in Europe, and he is the author and co-author of nine articles in the New Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians, the standard reference work in music.  Learn more...

Pianist Louise Thomas has concertized extensively throughout Europe, North America and Asia at such concert venues as the Tchaikovsky Conservatoire in Moscow, the Franz Liszt Academy Museum in Budapest, the Forbidden City Concert Hall in Beijing, Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles and Weill Hall in New York City.

Louise Thomas was born in Ireland and completed undergraduate musicology studies at Trinity College, Dublin. She received a German Government scholarship to continue piano performance studies at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hannover, Germany where she received a Konzertdiplom in the solo piano class. Dr. Thomas won second prize at the Ibla-Ragusa competition in Sicily where she was awarded the Béla Bartók Prize. She also won the concerto competition at the University of Southern California and performed with Maestro Sergiu Comissiona.  Dr. Thomas received her doctorate in piano performance in 1999 from USC where she studied with Prof. John Perry and Director of Keyboard Collaborative Arts, Dr. Alan Smith.  Learn more...

Amy DeMartino has over a decade of experience working at Chapman University, with roles in both academic and university operations. She joined the College of Performing Arts in November 2014 as the Operations Administrator and oversees the day-to-day administrative, operational and financial operations of the college.

Amy is an alumna of California State University, Fullerton and Chapman University. She holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in English Literature. Her love of literature is credited for her passion and patronage of the arts.

Jasmine enjoys admissions work because of the opportunity to change student’s lives. As the Assistant Director of Admissions and Recruitment she will support the College of Performing Arts by working with prospective students, other school administrators, as well as developing and coordinating admission related initiatives.

Peter Westenhofer is a graduate of the B.F.A. program at Chapman University. Most recently, he was seen as John Proctor in The Crucible at Mysterium, Mr. Mushnik in Little Shop of Horrors at Performance Riverside, Feste in Twelfth Night for Shakespeare Orange County, Nathan Detroit in Guys and Dolls for Curtain Call Dinner Theater, and Sam Byck in Assassins at Orange Coast College. Locally, he has performed with Fullerton Civic Light Opera, Saddleback Civic Light Opera, Laguna Playhouse, Costa Mesa Playhouse, Main Street Players, Orange Curtain Theater, and Son of Semele Ensemble. Some of Peter’s film credits include “Who Framed Roger Rabbit?” and “Sister Act II.”

Adept both on and off the stage, he is an accomplished director, choreographer, and instructor for various performing arts venues throughout Orange County. Peter has also worked for South Coast Repertory, Universal Pictures, HBO Pictures, the American College Theatre Festival, California Education Theatre Association (CETA), and The Groundlings.

Within the College of Performing Arts, Peter supervises the artistic logistics for all productions in Music, Theatre and Dance.

Emma is thrilled to be joining Chapman University and the College of Performing Arts in the new role of Career Advisor. She is excited to be able to draw upon her multi-faceted background in student affairs and the performing arts in order to support the unique career development needs of CoPA students and alumni. Emma recently completed her PhD in Performance Studies at UC Davis and holds an MA in Performance Research from Bristol University. Previously, Emma worked as an academic advisor for first-year students at Rutgers University. She also gained experience in arts administration and theatre education at the Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey where she worked as a teaching artist, assistant to the artistic director, and assistant director or dramaturgical assistant on several productions. Emma is new to SoCal and in her spare time loves hiking, tabletop gaming, and spending time with her cats.

Jean supports the College of Performing Arts by creating and managing event publicity materials, public relations, marketing, advertising, and social media for the College. An alumna of the University of California, Irvine's English department, she has worked in marketing communications, public and corporate communications, and product marketing in the high-tech manufacturing and distribution industries. She briefly ran her own freelance business, creating websites and social media profiles and campaigns for private clients that included youth sports, restaurants, and educational groups. Jean is thrilled to be working in an environment where her professional skills and interests can be put to good use, sharing the news and stories of the College's students, faculty, and events with its many friends, patrons, and supporters, as well as the Chapman Family.

Bobby recently joined Chapman University’s College of Performing Arts after spending time at Pacific Sports, where he helped produce triathlons and handle event management of several endurance events. Prior to that, he worked at iHeart Media working on sponsor and account activation. Bobby comes to Chapman having worked in the arts, spending over three years in the development office of the American Film Institute.

When he is away from the office, he enjoys his #1 passion, running. He recently completed his first ultra-marathon (any distance over the marathon distance of 26.2 miles), running 50 miles from Folsom, CA to Auburn, CA. He has also run 8 marathons and more than 20 half marathons over the last several years. He is a graduate of Emerson College in Boston, MA and hails from Colchester, VT where he became a lifelong Red Sox fan – his other passion.

A native of Saco, Maine, Tanya holds a BA in Drama from the University of California, Irvine. She has recently joined Chapman University’s College of Performing Arts after spending the last 3 years as a Box Office and House Manager for the City of Brea’s Curtis Theatre. Prior to that, she worked as a Regional Sales Representative for one of the nation’s largest dance supply retailers and as a wardrobe technician for a variety of live entertainment venues and parades at The Disneyland Resort. She has over 15 years experience in theatre as a performer, choreographer, costume designer, wardrobe technician, and make-up designer.

When she is away from work, Tanya can be found working in various local theater productions, planning travel, and generally consuming all things art and entertainment.

As assistant to the Dean, Joann King keeps busy with class schedules, syllabi, school events, faculty meetings, facilities, promotion, and publicity. Joann is an alumna of Chapman University as a Communication major with a theatre emphasis and is married to alumnus David King. Joann enjoys working with the students and faculty and is dedicated to the College of Performing Arts and to making others aware of the contributions it makes to Chapman University.
