Chapman's Job Search Resources Disclaimer 

Chapman University provides resources to its students and alumni seeking jobs, among others (collectively, "User(s)"). These resources include but are not limited to, recruiting programs, career fairs, employer presentations and site visits, on-campus interviews, virtual networking groups (including The Panther Network), mentoring programs, resume books, job boards (including Handshake), academic credit internships and other internship and job postings (collectively, the "Job Search Resource(s)"). Chapman University does not screen job listings or jobs shared or posted by employers, alumni or mentors nor academic credit internship employers or sites (collectively, "Employer(s)") and does not make any recommendations or guarantees about the opportunities in the Job Search Resources nor the Employers utilizing such resources. As information is subject to change at the discretion of each Employer, information has not been verified by Chapman University, and Chapman University is not responsible for any misrepresentations, inconsistencies or errors. The information provided in the Job Search Resources is provided "as is," and Chapman University makes no representations or guarantees about the job listings or, the accuracy of information provided by the Employers or their compliance with lawful hiring or employment practices. User is responsible for confirming the sufficiency and reliability of any such information and for researching and vetting each employment or internship opportunity and Employer prior to applying. Users should be prudent and use common sense and caution when applying for or accepting any opportunity. They should inform themselves about potential fraudulent or improper practices to protect themselves from harm. 

There are a number of states and localities that require Employers by law to disclose pay scale or pay ranges in job postings, including California, Colorado, Nevada, Washington, New York and others. However, the listings in the Job Search Resources that were posted prior to the effective dates of these laws may not be compliant with an individual state's requirements. 

The Immigration and Nationality Act prohibits citizenship status and national origin discrimination with respect to hiring, termination and recruiting or referring for a fee. Job postings must treat U.S. citizens, non-U.S. citizen nationals, lawful permanent residents, asylees and refugees consistently, without regard to their citizenship status, except in the limited situation where a law, regulation, executive order or government contract requires the Employer to consider candidates with certain citizenship statuses. Users who believe that a job posting is discriminatory based on citizenship status, national origin or any other protected class may report it to career@chapman.edu so that we can review the posting for noncompliance.

Chapman University assumes no responsibility to the User with respect to the suitability of placements, salary, negotiations, working conditions or any other aspect of off-campus employment or internship. Furthermore, Chapman University is not responsible in any way for any subsequent events which may transpire between Users and an Employer, including, but not limited to, an individual's subsequent satisfaction with the Employer or the Employer's subsequent satisfaction with a User.The User acknowledges and agrees that Chapman University shall not be liable for any damages, direct or indirect, resulting from the use of the Job Search Resources, including, but not limited to, those job opportunities which are offered by individuals or entities other than Chapman University. Chapman University reserves the right to post or remove any job opportunity or Employer from the Job Search Resources, with or without cause, at its sole non-grievable discretion. 

Chapman University expects that Users are employed in environments that are safe and free from any form of harassment or discrimination, including those that are based on protected characteristics, sexual misconduct and interpersonal violence. Although discrimination, harassment or misconduct can occur at any time in any environment, Chapman University highly advises against Users interviewing at or accepting any employment-based out of a private residence or non-commercial setting. Users are advised to take precaution in considering the potential perils in interviewing or working in environments that may be more susceptible to inappropriate behavior. With that said, although we allow employment opportunities in private residences to be posted because some Users desire these types of opportunities, which may include tutoring, childcare, etc. Users should nonetheless exercise caution.                   

If you see or hear of behavior that violates our expectation that Employers provide a safe and nondiscriminatory workplace, you are encouraged to intervene, speak up and/or contact the applicable Title IX Coordinator. You should also contact the Office of Career and Professional Development to report any entities or individuals that violate this expectation. 

Note that Chapman University is not responsible for the safety, security, wages, working conditions or any other aspect of an interview or employment. All hiring, scheduling and compensation are handled between the User and the Employer. Chapman University does not perform background checks on or otherwise vet Employers. Users assume the risk and responsibility to further screen Employers. Therefore, Users are responsible for researching and investigating job or internship leads for themselves.
