Global Documentary and Communication

French & Italian Alps

Global Documentary and Communication in the Alps is a partnership between the School of Communication and Dodge College, combining the disciplines of communication research and methodologies with documentary filmmaking. As part of this course, students spend several days in the French Alps based in the centuries-old medieval mountain town of Chamonix, where we film our documentaries, telling stories that are rooted in European culture and contemporary social issues. After we complete production of our documentary films and research projects, we head to Aosta, a picturesque city in the Italian Alps. Known for its Roman ruins, Aosta offers a blend of breathtaking history, stunning mountain views, and exposure to a rich, ancient part of Italy, keeper of a unique culture. We edit our films in Aosta, and then complete the course in Milan.
