Scott Anderson
MBA, Stanford University; MS, University of California, San Diego
Mr. Anderson has over 35 years of experience in accounting and corporate finance and has taught accounting at Chapman University, Pepperdine University, UCI, CSULB, and CSUF. As a former business owner, he is particularly attuned to the challenges faced by small businesses and their owners. He is a member of NAPFA, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and the National Association of Enrolled Agents.

Dr. Yashar Barardehi
Dr. Yashar Heydari Barardehi is an Assistant Professor of Finance whose research explores U.S. equity market structure and its impact on market quality, investor behavior, and asset prices. His work has been published in The Journal of Finance, The Review of Financial Studies, Management Science, and The Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, among other leading outlets, and presented at major finance conferences worldwide. From 2021 to 2024, he served as a Financial Economist at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, contributing to key policy initiatives. He teaches Equity Investments and Corporate Finance at Chapman University.

Dr. Andrew Bird
Professor Bird's work provides valuable insights into corporate transparency, disclosure practices, and risk management, offering guidance for business leaders as they navigate complex regulatory landscapes. His work has appeared in leading Finance and Accounting journals, including the Journal of Accounting and Economics, The Accounting Review, Review of Financial Studies, Journal of Financial Economics, and Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis.

Dr. Robert Bowen
Dr. Bowen has over 30 years of experience in accounting education and research. He has co-authored widely used cases, earned more than 50 teaching awards, and published in leading journals including The Accounting Review, Contemporary Accounting Research, and Journal of Accounting and Economics. His research focuses on corporate governance, disclosure policies, earnings management, and the stock-price relevance of financial and non-financial data.

Dr. Jack Broughton
Dr. Broughton teaches undergraduate and graduate finance courses and has published in leading journals including Journal of Business, Financial Review, and Journal of Financial Services Research. He founded the Argyros student management investment fund and has been a consultant to the CFA Institute since 2010. Prior to academia, he worked as an economist for the Institute for Water Resources, the Bureau of International Labor Affairs, and Bell Atlantic Corporation.

Dr. Terence Burnham
Dr. Burnham studies the biological and evolutionary basis of human behavior. He has taught at Harvard, the University of Michigan, and Chapman University, and has experience in finance and biotechnology, including leadership roles at Goldman Sachs, Progenics Pharmaceuticals, and Acadian Asset Management.

Dr. Henrik Cronqvist
DSc, University of Chicago
Dr. Cronqvist is an award-winning finance researcher specializing in investor behavior,
corporate finance, and venture capital. He has published extensively in top journals, including the American Economic Review, Journal of Finance, and Journal of Financial Economics, and has delivered keynotes globally. He also teaches undergraduate and graduate finance courses and consults with corporations,
investment firms, and start-ups.

Dr. Bruce Dehning
Dr. Dehning’s research focuses on accounting information systems and has been published in leading journals, including MIS Quarterly, Journal of Management Information Systems, and Journal of Operations Management. He has received multiple awards for contributions to the literature and has taught and consulted internationally. Prior to academia, he worked in the insurance industry and as a consultant for small businesses.

Dr. Mark DeSantis
Ph.D., University of Pittsburgh
Dr. DeSantis is an Associate Professor of Finance with a Ph.D. and M.A. from the University
of Pittsburgh. His research focuses on behavioral finance, including asset price dynamics,
market efficiency, and factors influencing traders’ earnings. Prior to his academic career, he worked as a consultant for Deloitte Consulting.

Dr. David Erkens
Ph.D., Arizona State University
Dr. Erkens studies how organizations use control systems to improve decision-making,
focusing on executive compensation, boards of directors, and operational controls.
His research has been published in leading journals including The Accounting Review, Management Science, and Journal of Accounting Research, and has received multiple honors including the AAA Management Accounting Section
Best Early-Career Researcher Award. He teaches accounting across undergraduate, MBA,
executive, DBA, and PhD programs internationally.

Dr. Jane Jollineau
Dr. Jollineau studies how individuals use information in decision-making, financial reporting, and auditing. She has published in leading journals, including The Accounting Review, Journal of Accounting Research, and Journal of Management Accounting Research. She teaches financial accounting to MBA students and has earned multiple teaching awards, including the PACCAR Award at the University of Washington.

Dr. Jessica Kim-Gina
Ph.D., Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania
Jessica Kim-Gina earned a Ph.D. and M.S. from the Wharton School and a Master's in Law from the University of Pennsylvania. Her research examines the economic effects of
inter-firm information sharing, financial reporting, and corporate intangibles. She previously taught at UCLA Anderson and held positions at Cornell University and
Goldman Sachs.

Fadel Lawandy
MBA, Norwich University
Fadel Lawandy is Director of the C. Larry Hoag Center for Real Estate and Finance, and a Professor
of Finance and Real Estate at Chapman University. His work spans banking, investment
management, and private equity, and he helped establish Chapman’s CUCA100 and CUOC25 equity indices. He holds a B.S./B.A. from Chapman University
and an MBA from Norwich University and serves on multiple boards.

Dr. Zhi Li
Dr. Zhi Li is an Associate Professor of Finance at Chapman University. Her research lies at the intersection of corporate finance, behavioral finance, accounting, and industrial organization. She examines the design and implications of executive compensation, the efficient processing of public information in capital markets, and the influence of product market competition on investment decisions. Dr. Li earned her Ph.D. in Finance from Arizona State University and her Master of Finance from Boston College.

Dr. Carlos Nunez
Carlos Nunez brings over nine years of experience with Colombia’s Ministry of Finance, including collaboration with the World Bank, complemented by private-sector roles in banking, securities brokerage, and financial asset valuation. He holds a Master of Mathematical Finance from the University of Toronto and a PhD in Risk Management and Insurance from Georgia State University. Dr. Nunez also holds the Financial Risk Manager (FRM) certification and has a forthcoming article in Management Science.

Dr. Glenn Pfeiffer
Glenn M. Pfeiffer holds the Warren and Doris Uehlinger Endowed Professorship in Business. He earned his B.A. from Hope College and his M.S. in Finance and Ph.D. in Accounting from Cornell University. He joined the Argyros College in 1995 after faculty appointments at the University of Washington, the University of Chicago, and the University of Arizona, and is an affiliate of the Law and Economics Center at George Mason University. He has also served as Associate Dean, Provost (2014–2021), and Interim Provost (2025).
Dr. Pfeiffer’s research focuses on accounting disclosures and capital markets. He has published extensively in leading academic journals and authored textbooks and case studies. He teaches financial accounting and analysis across undergraduate, MBA, Executive MBA, and Law programs and is the recipient of multiple teaching awards, including the Valerie Scudder Award.

Dr. Timothy Shields
Dr. Shields examines how accounting systems and institutional features impact strategic behavior in group settings, employing experimental methods informed by economics and psychology. His research has been published in journals including Management Science, Accounting Horizons, and Journal of Economic Behavior & Organization, and has received multiple competitive research grants.

Dr. Mitchell Warachka
Ph.D., Cornell University
Dr. Warachka earned his Ph.D. from Cornell University and an MBA from the University of Chicago.
His research focuses on asset pricing and household finance, with publications in
leading finance journals, including the Review of Financial Studies, Journal of Financial Economics, Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, and Management Science. He has taught corporate finance, derivatives, and international finance in the U.S.,
China, and Singapore.

Dr. Marc Weidenmier
Professor Weidenmier has served on multiple Editorial Review Boards for leading economics journals and has served on the nominating committee for the Nobel Prize in Economics.
Previously served as Director of the Lowe Institute for Political Economy at Claremont College and is currently a Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research. His work applies insights from events in financial history to current trends. His work appears in leading economics and finance journals including Journal of Financial Economic, American Economic Review, Quarterly Journal of Economics, Journal of Political Economy, and Journal of Economics History.

Lacy Willis
Ms. Willis has over 10 years of experience in public accounting, assisting privately held companies, government entities, and not-for-profits with financial reporting, audits, tax preparation, and forensic accounting. She is a Certified Public Accountant and Certified Fraud Examiner, and a member of the AICPA, California Society of CPAs, and the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.
