»Unstringing the Self

This dance film, created by Jessie Levasheff and Amelia Jáuregui, explores the connection between the mind and body, and the role of the puppet metaphor when seeking to understand the interplay between the two. Through the choreography, Jessie hoped to explore the perceived divide between mind and body, and how they can be reconciled. During the process, she grew curious about the notion of the soul, and its impact on the mind-body relationship, as well as the limitations of the puppet metaphor when seeking to understand the complexities of human consciousness. She hopes that as you view the film, you will be inspired to think critically about the application of the puppet metaphor and consider how you view your own mind and body.
