Dean’s Message
Welcome to the School of Communication, where we explore how human connection, storytelling,
and strategic messaging shape our world. Our school offers a select group of powerful
courses and programs designed to help students thrive in an information-driven society.
Faculty in the School of Communication are passionate educators and renowned scholars
deeply committed to student success. They are active researchers, industry professionals,
and mentors who bring energy and purpose to every classroom. In the School of Communication,
personalized education is not just a slogan; it's a lived experience. Your professors
will get to know you, challenge your thinking, and support your academic and professional
goals through close advising, collaborative research, and ongoing mentorship.
Students in the School of Communication benefit from hands-on experiences that extend
learning beyond the classroom. From working on faculty-led research teams and producing
media for Chapman Radio, to studying abroad, interning with top communication firms,
and engaging in co-curricular organizations like the Student Advisory Board or Lambda
Pi Eta, our students grow through active participation and meaningful connection.
Our programs are designed to help you build a strong foundation in communication theory
while also offering hands-on opportunities to apply those ideas in real-world settings.
Whether you're interested in media, public relations, advertising, health communication,
political discourse, or global communication, there is space to explore, grow, and
make an impact here.
Most importantly, communication is at the core of what makes us human. It's how we
build community, resolve conflict, influence change, and tell stories that matter.
In the School of Communication, we foster inclusive dialogue, civic engagement, and
ethical leadership. Our mission is to work alongside our students to engage in communication
scholarship and practice through innovative research, transformative education, and
strategic industry partnerships. Our overall goal is to equip students with the critical,
creative, and technological skills to excel in the communication careers of today
and tomorrow. Check out our About Us page to learn about what is happening within our School of Communication.
