As an academic, I have followed a non-traditional, but perhaps increasingly more common route into the academy. I began college in my early thirties after many years of working blue-collar jobs in Ohio and after the birth of my eldest child. I love the possibilities fostered in the shared space of the lecture hall and seminar room and am deeply committed to teaching as a core of my professional life.
