She has researched the politics of nationalist memory in regard to artistic representations of Hiroshima and the atomic bomb; the role of Vietnamese American literature in reshaping the narrative surrounding refugees; and on the representation of Chinatown in literature. She is the co-founder of Soapberry Review, a journal dedicated to the amplification and to the critical analysis of Asian American literature.
