»Campus Traditions
Every year, Chapman University brings the community together through beloved campus
traditions that celebrate our shared spirit and history. As an alum, you know how
meaningful these events can be—and now, you have the chance to experience them in
a new way: by coming back, giving back, and helping welcome the next generation of
Chapman students.

Chapman Family Homecoming
A vibrant weekend packed with Panther pride, featuring master classes, campus tours, reunions, and our iconic football tailgate. It’s the perfect time to reconnect with your Chapman Family.
Get Involved: Alumni volunteers help with event check-in, lead reunion activities, and support student-led programming. Let us know you want to volunteer.

Candle Lighting Ceremony
This moving tradition welcomes new students to the Chapman family. Alumni are invited to return and help light the way—literally—by participating in the ceremony and symbolizing the enduring connection between past and present Panthers.
Get Involved: Alumni volunteers serve as candle lighters or greeters, offering encouragement and Panther pride to the newest members of our community. Be on the look out for the invite or let us know you're interested.

Winterfest and Doy’s Holiday Tree Lighting
Kick off the holiday season with this beloved Chapman event, named in honor of Board of Trustees member Doy Henley. Gather in the heart of campus for an evening of festive music, holiday treats, and a magical snowfall—yes, it snows at Chapman! This cherished tradition brings together alumni, students, families, and friends to celebrate the season.
Exclusive Alumni Reception
Before the tree lighting, alumni and their families are invited to a special reception
featuring hot chocolate, festive treats, and a letter-writing station for Santa. Bring
your little Panthers to join in the holiday fun—Santa himself will make a special
appearance!
Be Part of the Tradition
Volunteering at Chapman traditions is a meaningful way to stay connected, give back, and inspire the next generation of Panthers. Whether you're local or planning a visit, we’d love to have you join us.
