LtCol Alex Douvas USMC
Lieutenant Colonel Alex Douvas (JD ‘05) currently serves as a Military Judge for the Western Judicial Circuit of the Navy-Marine Corps Trial Judiciary. He was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Marine Corps upon graduating from California State University, Fullerton in 2002 and earned his J.D. from Chapman University School of Law in 2005.
During his distinguished career, LtCol Douvas has served in Helmand Province, Afghanistan,
as Regional Special Assistant U.S. Attorney, embedded within the U.S. Attorney’s Office
for the Southern District of California, as the Senior Defense Counsel for MCAGCC
Twentynine Palms, and he has been deployed with Special Purpose Marine Air Ground
Task Force–Crisis Response–Central Command, in support of Operation Inherent Resolve
(2017-2018), to name a few of his duties and deployments. LtCol Douvas earned his
LL.M. in Criminal Law in 2015 from The Judge Advocate General’s Legal Center and School,
where he also served Professor of Criminal Law, and as the Criminal Law Department
Vice Chair from 2020-2021.
