How the CSO can Assist You

Career Advising

Whether you are searching for your first job or seeking to make a transition later in your career, we are here to advise you and provide information as you develop as a professional. This includes job search techniques, practice area exploration, resume/cover letter review, and mock interviews. Current students can make an appointment through Symplicity's "Appointments" tab.

Mock Interview Program

Mock interviews are available throughout the year with the Career Services Office. Additionally, the Career Services Office coordinates a formal mock interview program with practicing attorneys who give students valuable feedback and advice. All students are strongly encouraged to participate. Contact the CSO to find out more about mock interviews.

Recruiting Program

The Fowler School of Law recruiting program offers employers and law school students the convenience of on-campus recruiting, including interviews and resume collection. On-campus interviews are held in August (fall semester) and February (spring semester).

Access and Opportunity Resources

Chapman University Fowler School of Law is committed to having a diverse student population and supporting our students. Many large law firms offer diversity scholarships and fellowships, as well as summer employment offers, for first- and second-year students. There are also many job fairs and recruiting opportunities for diverse students. For additional information on these opportunities, please view the Diversity, Access and Opportunity Resources and the National Job Fairs Guide on Symplicity under "Career Guides."

Professional Development Funding

Do you plan on attending a professional development event (e.g., conference, career fair, seminar)? The Career Services Office may be able to assist with funding some of the cost.

Student Organization Assistance

The Career Services Office welcomes the opportunity for employers to partner with law student organizations and host career-related events such as speakers, panels, and mixers. We are able to assist with the planning, marketing, and execution. Email lawcareerservices@chapman.edu for assistance.

Law Student Certification

Some positions offer the opportunity to appear in court on behalf of clients or the government if the law student is first "certified" through the State Bar's Practical Training of Law Students program. Learn how to become certified and please have the Registrar's office sign all applicable school forms.

Externships

Receive academic credit by working for judges, government agencies, corporations, public interest organizations, private law firms, and more.

Reciprocity

If you are seeking employment outside of the Southern California area, the Career Services Office is able to assist you with gaining access to other law schools' career resources. View our Reciprocity Policy for more information.
