Bette and Wylie Aitken Distinguished Visiting Professorship

The Bette and Wylie Aitken Distinguished Visiting Professorship was created in 2008 to attract the nation’s leading legal scholars to the Chapman University School of Law. This distinguished professorship reflects the commitment of Chapman to enrich and strengthen the academic experience of our students by offering new perspectives and exceptional expertise from nationally-acclaimed scholars.

Wylie Aitken, one of the country’s most successful trial attorneys and the current chair of the law school's Board of Visitors, and his wife, Bette, are active Orange County philanthropists and have been supporters of Chapman University School of Law since its inception. Their previous generosity led to the creation of the Center for Lawyering and Trial Advocacy and the Wylie A. Aitken Trial Courtroom at the School of Law.

Each year, this distinguished professorship will bring a prominent legal scholar whose expertise will compliment the strengths of the law school's existing class offerings.

Below are the Bette and Wylie Aitken Distinguished Visiting Professors:

Fall 2008: Dr. Richard Falk

Fall 2009: Theodore Parnall

Spring 2010: Joe Knight
