Karen Lugo Adjunct Professor of Law Chapman University School of Law
Karen Lugo is Western Region Coordinator for the Federalist Society, and Assistant Director of the Claremont Institute Center for Constitutional Jurisprudence, where she works on constitutional litigation, including eminent domain and city planning disputes, and the preparation of amicus briefs in Hamden v. Rumsfeld and Gonzalez v. Planned Parenthood. Professor Lugo received a J.D. at the Chapman University School of Law, and a B.A. with an emphasis in National Security Studies at California State University at San Bernandino. At Chapman, she was a contributing editor of the NeXus Law Journal of Opinion, and edited the work of Victor Davis Hanson. She was an officer of the Moot Court Honors Board, a member of the Alternative Dispute Resolution Board, externed for the Honorable R. Buce Minto of the Los Angeles Superior Court and Presiding Justice David Sills of the California Court of Appeal, and earned a Mediation Certificate from the Orange County Fair Housing Council. She was also a Research Assistant to Dean John C. Eastman in 2003-2004, working on a wide range of constitutional issues. Professor Lugo previously served as a media relations liaison for Assemblyman Bill Leonard. She was also a real estate mortgage banker and sales manager for Weyerhaeuser/All Pacific Mortgage where she received President's Club and other major awards. She has also taught grades K-5 and high school English for public and private schools. Professor Lugo teaches Constitutional Jurisprudence Clinic. |
