Lynda Hall graduated from Chapman College in 1980 and completed her M.A. in English Literature, with honors, at Chapman in 1986. She has been teaching at Chapman since that time, first as an adjunct and then full time, beginning in 1995. She completed her Ph.D. at Claremont Graduate University in 2009, specializing in 19th Century British Literature. In 1997 she received a University award for teaching excellence. Professor Hall teaches a variety of courses at Chapman, including Introduction to Fiction, Literature into Film, as well as courses relating to Jane Austen studies. She has made various presentations at regional and national meetings of the Jane Austen Society of North America, including “Addressing Readerly Unease: Discovering the Gothic in Mansfield Park,” and “Jane Fairfax’s Choice: The Sale of Human Flesh or Human Intellect,” both of which were published in the journal, Persuasions. She also served as the Director of Writing Programs for four years and teaches a course, “Banned Books” in the Freshman Foundations program.
