  1. PAs are expected to understand, evaluate, and apply medical knowledge of general medical and surgical conditions to a diverse patient population.
  2. Physician assistants are expected to communicate, effectively and compassionately with patients, and demonstrate emotional adaptability to create and sustain ethically and therapeutic relationships.
  3. Physician assistants are expected to develop and implement complete patient care plans, with the support of information technology.
  4. Physician assistants are expected to demonstrate professionalism and accountability to relationships with their supervisors, other healthcare providers, patients, society and the profession.
  5. Physician assistants are expected to understand, evaluate, and apply evidence-based medicine to address gaps in medical knowledge, and utilize information technology and self-directed learning to improve their clinical practice.
  6. Physician assistants are expected to understand the basics of health care systems and policy and apply principles of public health to patient care.
