Winter Abroad in Gold Coast, Australia Dec 27, 2011 – Jan 6, 2012
The Winter Abroad program in Gold Coast, Australia provides a unique opportunity for second and third year students from American law schools to study with their Australian counterparts in one of the most beautiful resort locations in the world. Students will earn 2 or 3 transferable credit points during 10 days of study over Chapman's winter break -- summertime in Australia.
Chapman's Australian partner is Southern Cross University School of Law and Justice. SCU is a fully-accredited Australian law school, with campus facilities in the Gold Coast region on the border of New South Wales and Queensland. Law students from throughout Australia will be attending the same program and receiving credit at their Australian home schools.
About the Program
Students participating in the Winter Abroad program may choose from one of two advanced level courses taught by established scholars. Each class meets over an 11 day period, and students may be expected to complete some assignments before and after the period in residence, and will submit a research paper after returning to their home school. The credits earned are transferable to the home school, pursuant to ABA rules
Tuition/fees will be $2250 for 2 credits and $3000 for 3 drecits. The fixed costs will not include flight, housing or personal expenses, which will vary for individual students. A housing provider may be recommended with negotiated group rates, but other options range from resort hotels to youth hostels, and prices vary depending on level of accommodation.
About Gold Coast
The Gold Coast is a resort area in Australia that offers some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Classes meet for 4 hours each day, providing plenty of time to go to the beach, snorkel, surf, dive and enjoy the other summer activities of the beautiful region. In the past, American students attending the program also took time to visit other parts of Australia, including Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Kangaroo Island, and the Great Barrier Reef. Students from U.S., Canadian, and Australian law schools are expected to participate.
An application fee and a tuition deposit will be required.
