2007 Law School School Graduates are Encouraged to Maintain Integrity as Lawyers
May 19, 2007 -- More than 2,000 family members, friends, faculty and other guests honored the law school's 171 newest graduates at the 2007 Commencement Ceremony at Wilson Field. The ceremony began with a heartfelt invocation by student Lawrence Mudgett followed by an inspiring version of the Star Spangled Banner by Parisa Sadoghianzadeh. The 2007 Valedictorian was awarded to Alana Cho who graduated summa cum laude along with Catherine Parsons. The school also recognized six magna cum laude students, and 17 who graduated cum laude.
The ceremony included a special faculty resolution honoring Professor Scott Howe for his eight years of dedicated service as Associate Dean for Academic Affairs. The guest of honor, trial attorney Dickie Scruggs, sent the new graduates into the real world with the following words of wisdom:
“A lawyer’s most precious asset is integrity. You must guard it carefully throughout your career. For it is like a match; once struck, it can never be relit.”
