Thank you for participating in the 3rd Annual Chapman University Toyota of Orange 5K. Below is some important follow-up information we want to share with all of our runners. Notice of our 2009 race will be sent as soon as the date is finalized.
OUR 2009 RACE! Bigger and better than ever, we are working now to determined the date for the 4th Annual Chapman University Toyota of Orange 5K. Look for it on a Saturday in October 2009. You may sign up to be notified of the race date as well as when registration becomes available. New in 2009 will be advance pick up of race packets.
POST-RACE EVALUATION We want to continually improve this event so that it can rightfully be known as the best 5K in the nation. Please take a moment to complete a brief online survey. When completing the survey, you may also enter to win two extra race shirts and a personal supply of FRS Healthy Energy Drink.
SPONSORS We deeply appreciate that so many businesses and friends of Chapman University stepped forward with the sponsorships needed to make this event possible. As a result, more than $50,000 was raised to support scholarships and other priorities that benefit the interests and needs of Chapman University students. Our title sponsor was Dave Wilson's Toyota of Orange. Our gold level sponsors were Advanced Medical Optics, Gemini Industries, Inc. and Willits Real Estate Group. Our silver level sponsors were Ajax Boiler, Inc., The Waltos Group of Northwestern Mutual Financial Network and local philanthropist Doy Henley. Our bronze level sponsors were Snap Fitness 24/7 and JB3D. We are also grateful to many vendors who donated goods and services and/or provided deep discounts: Race brochures were from We Do Graphics. Race bibs and banners were from Orange County Printing Company. Race shirts were from C4 Litho, LLC. Imprinting of race shirts and volunteer shirts was by Aardvark Creations. The "Post-Race Breakfast of Champions" was provided by Sodexo.
TIMING RESULTS Chip timing was provided by Prime Time. The overall placement and the divisions results are now available online. If you won a trophy (1st, 2rd, or 3rd) but did not claim it on race day, you may pick it up weekdays between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. at 701 N. Glassell Street in Orange starting Tuesday, October 7. Trophies must be claimed by October 17, 2008. Please note that some extra youth age divisions were announced at the awards ceremony. Those individuals will be contacted once their trophies are available.
PHOTOGRAPHS Photography was provided by Flashbulb Group. You will be able to view and purchase photos online by Oct. 11, 2008. A percentage of all proceeds will go back to fund the Chapman University General Scholarship Fund. There will be a $5 archival fee for all orders placed after 11/08/2008.
MEDIA COVERAGE You will find an article in the Orange County Register by David Whiting which includes a wonderful video about his run. And KDOC-TV's Daybreak OC did a video broadcast the morning of the race that is also available to view online.
MINI-EXPO We hope that you enjoyed the mini-expo and visited all of our vendors. You may also visit many of them online. Shop for great running gear at Sassy Girls Running Club. Learn from Malkoff Commemorative Services about the Fish Interfaith Center's peaceful columbarium and cenotaph. FREE STUFF While supplies lasted, we distributed FRS Healthy Energy Drink from the FRS Company, Pizzettos from Xengaru Fun Foods, coasters from Willits Real Estate Group, week-long memberships to Snap Fitness 24/7, ice wraps from ActiveWrap, plus copies of the Old Towne Orange Plaza Review. Complimentary massages were offered by Soul Heart Hands.

VOLUNTEERS An event like this is not possible without the people who volunteer their time to make it happen. Thank you! In addition to our wonderful individual volunteers, the following groups provided a large number of volunteers: The Waltos Group, Chapman Cross Country, Track & Field, Physical Therapy Club, Women's Cheerleading, Associated Students, Men's Crew Team, Women's Crew Team, Athletic Training, and Women's Basketball. Volunteer coordination was facilitated by Associated Students. Video was shot by Jeff Cole Productions in cooperation with the Dodge College of Film and Media Arts. Live music was provided by The Spirit of Chapman, a pep band under the direction of the Conservatory of Music.
COMMUNITY SUPPORT A large number of Chapman University and City of Orange offices came together. We'd especially like to thank Public Works and the Police Department for their assistance during the race. Major support on campus was provided by Publications and Creative Services, Athletics, Facilities Management, Public Safety, Media Services, Sodexo, Associated Students and Alumni Relations.
THE COURSE The 5K course provides a dramatic tour of the beautiful Chapman University campus and the historic neighborhoods of Old Towne Orange.

AGE GROUPS 13 and under, 14-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80+ (Note: trophies awarded to top three male and female finishers in each division based upon chip time. Overall winners will be determined by gun time.)
