Turnitin and Blackboard

Chapman has integrated Turnitin into our Blackboard. This means you do not have to set up a user account with Turnitin. You can use your current Blackboard course site or any previous Blackboard site to submit papers to Turnitin.

To access and setup this feature in Blackboard do the following:

1. Go to the Control Panel and select any content area (Assignments is a good choice).
2. Inside the content area at the left end of the content options is a drop down menu. Click on the down arrow and select Turnitin Assignment from the list and then click go.
3. Fill out the Turnitin screen: title, instructions, points, available = yes, check the display until box and set a date for the assignment to end.
4. Click Submit and then Click Ok

To Submit a paper:
1. Click View/Complete
2. Fill out the on screen form: name, paper title, and choose the file to submit by selecting the browse button.
3. Choose file and then submit.

NOTE: You should have students use a consistent naming convention, a1_smith.doc (assignment number & last name)

To view the results of a submitted paper:

1. Go to the Control Panel
2. Go to the Turnitin Assignments link under the Course Tools heading
3. Click on the view link for the assignment you setup
4. Click on Originality Score/Report

Please note that you (instructor) can use any Blackboard course site you have to submit a paper. If you want students to submit their own work through the assignment link in Blackboard then you must have their specific class setup on Blackboard.
