Pets are permitted although there are restrictions as to what types of pets you may have (cats and most types of dogs, for example). A supplemental pet deposit for $500.00 and proof of liability insurance, in the amount of $100,000.00, are required. You must have approval from the Office of Housing and Residence Life before bringing any pet into the houses.

*Exceptions on certain properties
The number of bedrooms in your house and how many registered students may be sharing the house determines the rate you pay. For example if two single graduate students are residing in a two bedroom house, then they will pay the two student rate for the two bedroom house. However, if a student is residing with their spouse and/or children, then they will pay the one student rate as there is only one registered student in the household. Billing is done through your student account on a semester basis. Students may be eligible for financial aid to assist in paying for a campus house. Staff and Faculty rent is paid monthly at the Cashier’s office.
Residents beginning their occupancy in a University House at the start of the fall semester will have a nine month Residence Living License Agreement (RLLA) for their first year after which a twelve month agreement will be required should residents wish to remain in the house. Once a resident has been selected for a University House, they will have priority in the renewal of that property until they complete their academic program and/or employment at Chapman University. If a circumstance should arise that would prevent a resident from renewing their RLLA, the Office of Housing and Residence Life will notify the resident within an adequate amount of time of when the current RLLA will terminate. To review a copy of the current Residence Living License Agreement (RLLA) for the University Houses, please visit our Forms page.
